Characteristics

The reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) is not a diesel additive and must not be poured into the diesel fuel tank.
Reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) is used to treat exhaust gas by reducing the nitric oxide in the exhaust emitted by diesel vehicles.
Reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) reduces the nitric oxide to water and nitrogen.
AdBlue^® /DEF is a is a solution with 32.5% ultra pure urea used in systems that treat exhaust gas (SCR catalytic converter) (refer to GLOSSARY ) for diesel engines.
The use of reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) is legally required in vehicles with SCR.
AdBlue^® is a registered brand of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in the USA, Germany, the European Union and other countries.

Usage

Do not mix any additives with the reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF).
Do not dilute the reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) with water.
Do not use any already used fluid.
Only use reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) that is still in its original container. Check the expiration date on the container.
Follow the manufacturer instructions for use and storage.

Technical Data

"NO_x reducing agent AUS 32" complies with ISO standard 22241-1.
The reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) has a separate tank inside the vehicle. Do NOT mix it directly with the diesel fuel.
A Volkswagen-approved refill container must be used to fill the reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF).

AdBlue Level Low

The following messages will be displayed in the instrument cluster when the AdBlue level is low:

When the remaining range is 2, 400 km (1, 491.3 miles), a chime will sound and "Fill AdBlue (DEF)! Range: 2, 400 km (1, 491.3 miles)" will be displayed.
When the remaining range is 1, 000 km (621.4 miles), a chime will sound and "Fill AdBlue (DEF)! No engine start in 1, 000 km (621.4 miles)" will be displayed.
When the remaining range is 0 km (0 miles), a buzzer will sound three times and "Fill AdBlue (DEF)! Engine cannot be started again" will be displayed.

System Malfunction or Misfueling

CAUTION:

Filling with reducing agent (AdBlue^® ) or other fluids which do not conform to the standard.

Risk of damage to the vehicle.

- Only fill the reducing agent (AdBlue^® /DEF) in Blue TDI vehicles.

If there is a system malfunction or if misfueling occurred, one of the following messages will appear in the instrument cluster:

When the remaining range is 1, 050 km (652.4 miles), "Check AdBlue (DEF)! Range 1, 050 km (652.4 miles)" will be displayed.
When the remaining range is 1, 000 km (621.4 miles), a buzzer will sound and "Check AdBlue (DEF)! No engine start in 1, 000 km (621.4 miles)" will be displayed.
When the remaining range is 0 km (0 miles), a buzzer will sound three times and "Check AdBlue (DEF)! Engine cannot be started again" will be displayed.

NOTE:

As soon as "Check AdBlue! Engine cannot be started again!" is displayed and the engine is turned off, it will not be possible to start the engine again.
