General Information
Transmission
The "automatic transmission 09S" has eight hydraulically-controlled forward gears. By passing the torque converter slip, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th gears become mechanically driven gears when lock-up clutch is closed.
Torque Converter
The torque converter is equipped with a lock-up clutch. The lock-up clutch closes depending on load and speed.
ATF
(Automatic Transmission Fluid)
ATF is a permanent fill. ATF does not need to be changed during maintenance.
The ATF levels inside the planetary gear and inside the final drive are checked and filled at the same time.
Drained ATF must not be used to fill again.
Be very careful when handling oil. Dispose of drained oil correctly.
The height of this rising tube corresponds to the height of the ATF level.
To drain, the rising tube is removed.
The height of this rising tube corresponds to the height of the ATF level.
Only the ATF that is available as a replacement may be used in the "automatic transmission 09S". Using other fluids can lead to function problems or can even cause transmission failure. For the correct ATF part number. Refer to the Parts Information.
