- The vehicle pulls to one side.
And/or
- The steering wheel is crooked.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
This bulletin applies to axle alignment only.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Not applicable.
SERVICE
- Test drive the vehicle to reproduce the concern.
- Review Elsa at Repair Manual, Chassis >> Suspension, Wheels, Steering >> 44 Wheels, Tires, Wheel Alignment.
- Make sure that the software of the wheel alignment equipment is up-to-date.
- Upload the alignment protocol before and after the repair to DOC-IT (only for vehicles at PDI and/or below 1000 miles).NOTE: Do not upload pictures of the alignment computer screen to DOC-IT, only upload the complete alignment protocol as a pdf file.
- If the concern was "steering wheel crooked", upload a picture of the steering wheel with VAS 6458 installed (Figure 1).
- Deviations at the steering wheel position by +/- 2 degrees are the result of permissible tolerances of the track adjustment and therefore acceptable.
NOTE: Please refer to ELSA for additional tools and/or other procedures necessary for the repair.
