Abs Control Module -J104- And Abs Hydraulic Unit -N55-, Removing And Installing, RHD With Abs Mark 70 Abs/ASR: Removing

Installation location:

  1. Brake Booster with Tandem Brake Master Cylinder
  2. ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- with ABS Control Module -J104-
CAUTION:

Do not confuse the brake lines when connecting them to the tandem brake master cylinder and the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-. Mark the lines in their installed position before removing them.

The brake lines near the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- must not be bent.

-- Retrieve the present coding from the ABS Control Module -J104- and write it down.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

NOTE:

The battery ground cable must be disconnected for the following procedure. For this reason, check if a coded radio is installed. If necessary, obtain anti-theft code beforehand.

CAUTION:

Danger of causing damage to electronic components when disconnecting the battery.

  • Follow the steps for disconnecting the battery.

Vehicles With 2.0L Gasoline Engine And Turbocharger

-- Remove the engine cover upward from the mounting points -arrows-. Refer to ENGINE COVER (CNLA, CRJA) , ENGINE COVER (CVCA, CUUA, CUUB, DELA, DEBA, DEJA, DGMA) and ENGINE COVER (CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA) .

Vehicles with 1.4L gasoline engine, turbocharger and compressor:

-- Lift the engine cover -3- upward at points -1- in the -direction of the arrow-.

-- Pull the cover out of the bracket -2- in the -direction of the arrow-.

Vehicles With Diesel Engine:

-- Remove engine cover near the -arrows-.

-- Pay attention to the sequence given -1- to -4-. Refer to ENGINE COVER (CVCA, CUUA, CUUB, DELA, DEBA, DEJA, DGMA) .

-- Reach under the engine cover as far as possible.

Continuation For All Vehicles:

-- If necessary, remove the intake hose -2-. Refer to AIR FILTER (CNLA, CRJA) , AIR FILTER (CZCA, CZDA, CZTA) , AIR FILTER (CBPA, CKJA) and AIR FILTER (CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA) .

-- To do this, loosen clamps -1-.

-- Seal the openings with the Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122  .

-- Disconnect and remove the connector from the ABS Control Module -J104- in -direction of the arrow-.

-- Push the fuse -2- downward in the -direction of the arrow-.

-- Unlock the locking mechanism -1- to disconnect the connector -3- from the ABS Control Module -J104-.

-- To do this, press the locking mechanism -1- downward in the -direction of the arrow-.

-- Insert the Brake Pedal Actuator :V.A.G 1869/2  .

-- Remove left front caps -1-.

-- Remove left rear caps -1-.

Use a suitable bleeder hose

It must fit tightly on the bleeder valve so that no air can get into the brake system

-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose -1- to the left front brake caliper breather valve.

-- Open the breather valve.

-- Attach the bleeder bottle bleed hose -1- to the brake caliper breather valve/left rear brake cylinder.

-- Open the breather valve.

-- Push the brake pedal at least 60 mm using the Brake Pedal Actuator :V.A.G 1869/2  .

-- Close the left front and left rear bleeder valves.

Do not remove the Brake Pedal Actuator :V.A.G 1869/2  .

Vehicles With Manual Transmission:

-- Unclip the hydraulic line -1- on the bracket -2- -arrows-.

Continuation For All Vehicles: 

-- Place enough lint-free cloths under the ABS Control Module -J104- and the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-.

Make sure no brake fluid gets on the contacts

-- Mark the brake lines -A- and -B- from the brake master cylinder.

-- Remove the brake lines -A- and -B- from the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55-.

-- Seal the threaded hole immediately with plugs from the assembly repair kit.

-- Close brake lines immediately using Sealing Plugs or with suitable plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122  .

-- Mark the brake lines -1- to -4-, unscrew and the seal.

-- Seal the threaded hole immediately with plugs from the assembly repair kit.

-- Close brake lines immediately using Sealing Plugs or with suitable plugs from the Engine Bung Set :VAS 6122  .

-- Remove the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- and the ABS Control Module -J104- in -direction of arrow- and pull upward out of the shock absorbers.

-- Remove the ABS Hydraulic Unit -N55- with the ABS Control Module -J104-.
