The lock carrier is a safety related component. For this reason the lock carrier may not be serviced.
Replace the lock carrier if it is damaged.
For reasons of clarity, the lock carrier with attachments is removed.
Moving Into Service Position
-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the release cable from the cable coupling. Refer to RELEASE CABLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left and right bolt -4- from behind the headlamp.
-- Remove the left and right bolt -3- from the lock carrier brace.
-- Only remove one bolt -2- from the left and right longitudinal members.
-- Install the :T10093 instead of the bolts into the holes in the left and right longitudinal member.
-- Remove the remaining bolts -2- from the left and right longitudinal members.
-- Support the hood and remove the support rod from the hood.
-- Remove the upper left and right bolts -3- from the retaining brackets -2-.
-- The lock carrier with the attachments -1- can be pulled forward approximately 10 cm onto the :T10093 .
-- While doing so, pay attention to the wires to the lock carrier.
-- If necessary, disconnect the connectors.
-- Install the :T10467 (two on each side) on the left and right side between the impact member and the longitudinal member.
Service Position, Resetting
-- Remove the :T10467 on the left and right side between the impact member and the longitudinal member.
-- Push the lock carrier with the attachments -1- onto the :T10093 on the longitudinal members.
-- Align the lock carrier with the attachments -1- on the longitudinal members and between the fenders. Refer to the appropriate information BODY FRONT or BODY FRONT .
Always install the lock carrier onto the attaching points at the frontmost positions of the oblong holes. Only then can the lock carrier slide in the event of an accident.
For vehicles with the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428-, the Control Module for Adaptive Cruise Control -J428- must be realigned when loosening, removing and installing or replacing the lock carrier.

Install in the reverse order of removal, while noting the following:
The hoses and lines must not be pinched.
