Rain/Light Recognition Sensor G397, Removing And Installing: Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:
-- Thoroughly clean the windshield inside the interior rearview mirror baseplate.
Sensor, removed:
-- Remove the connecting pad -2- in the -direction of the arrow-.
Risk of damaging the silicone layer from the rain/light recognition sensor.
- Thoroughly clean the surface of the rain/light recognition sensor.
-- Clean the sensor -1-, to do this, place one or more commercially available adhesive strips onto the adhesive surface of the sensor -1- and remove again.
-- Clean the adhesive surface of the sensor -1- using a lint-free cleaning cloth.
-- Remove the silicone paper -1- from the connecting pad -3-.
Conditions
- The protective film -2- must remain in the connecting pad -3-.
-- Position the connecting pad -2- centered onto the sensor -3- using the protective film -1-.
-- Press on the connecting pad -2- with the protective film -1- free of bubbles.
-- Remove the protective film -2-.
Continuation for all vehicles
Sensor, new:
-- Push the grip tab in the -direction of the arrow A-.
-- Remove the protective cap -1- in the -direction of the arrow B-.
Continuation for all vehicles
-- Insert the sensor -2- into the interior rearview mirror baseplate.
Malfunctions of the rain/light recognition sensor.
- If the contact surface is not free of bubbles after 10 minutes, the rain/light recognition sensor must be removed and installed again.
Conditions
- The retainer -1- must engage audibly.
-- Press on the retainer.
-- Connect the connector -3-.
If the sensor has been replaced, then it must be coded:
-- Perform the "Rain/Light Recognition Sensor, Replacing" function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
