Steering Intermediate Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the front underbody trim panel. Refer to FRONT UNDERBODY TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the driver side footwell vent. Refer to DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Pull the lever on the side of the steering column downward.
-- Pull the steering wheel as far back and downward as possible.
-- Push the lever on the side of the steering column upward again.
-- Disconnect the battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the bolt -1- from the universal joint -2-.
-- Turn the steering wheel in the straight position.
-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft -3- from the universal joint in the -direction of the arrow-.
AWD vehicles
-- Remove the driver side drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
LHD vehicle
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Remove the universal joint -1- from the steering gear -4- in the -direction of the arrow-.
-- Unclip the seal -1- on the bulkhead -3-.
-- To do so push the locking mechanisms in the -direction of the arrow- and release.
-- Remove the steering column -2- from the vehicle interior.
RHD vehicles
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Remove the universal joint -1- from the steering gear -4- in the -direction of the arrow-.
-- Unclip the seal -1- on the bulkhead -3-.
-- To do so push the locking mechanisms in the -direction of the arrow- and release.
-- Remove the steering column -2- from the vehicle interior.
