Spring, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Attachments, Installation Position

-- Insert the washer -2- in the strut mount -1- so that the washer is seated under the hooks from the strut mount.

-- Pay attention that the tab -arrow- is seated in the cut-out of the washer -2-.

-- Press the stop buffer -1- in the strut mount -2-.

-- Pay attention that the stop buffer -1- completely contacts the strut mount -2- -arrow-.

-- Insert the protective cover -1- in the deep-groove ball bearing -2-.

-- Pay attention that the protective cover -1- is correctly engaged -arrows-.

Continuation for all vehicles

-- Place the spring support -3- in the shock absorber -2-.

-- Place the spring -1- with the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Tensioner:V.A.G 1752/1 on the lower spring support -3-.

-- End of spring coil -arrow B- must rest against stop -arrow A-.

CAUTION:

There can be noises from an uneven assembly of the strut mount to the deep-groove ball bearing.

- Pay attention to the installation position of the strut mount to the deep-groove ball bearing when assembling.

-- Position the deep-groove ball bearing -2- on the spring -3-.

-- Align the strut mount -1- to the deep-groove ball bearing -2-.

Conditions

The tab of the strut mount -1- must be located in the cut-out -arrow- of the deep-groove ball bearing -2-.
The edge of the strut mount -1- must be folded around the collar of the deep-groove ball bearing -2-.

-- Make sure that the washer -4- is seated correctly.

-- Tighten the nut -4- on the piston rod -6-. At the same time counterhold on the piston rod using the tools as shown.

Commercially Available Ratchet
Torque Wrench, 40-200Nm:V.A.G 1332A
Nut
Strut Mount
Piston Rod
Shock Absorber Set - Socket:T10001/5
Torque Wrench 1332 Insert - Ring Wrench - 21mm:V.A.G 1332/7

-- Relieve the tension on the Spring Compressor Kit - Spring Tensioner:V.A.G 1752/1 and remove it from the spring.

-- Remove the suspension strut from the Spring Compressor Kit - Strut Clamping Block:V.A.G 1752/20 .
