Vehicle Front Components, Supporting: Removing

The A/C Compressor -VX81- will be called A/C compressor in the information that follows.

CAUTION:

There is a risk of fatal injury due to high voltage.

Electrocution by direct contact or electric arc can cause severe bodily injury or fatal injury.

- Have a high-voltage technician (HVT) or a high-voltage expert (HVE) de-energize the high-voltage system.

-- Refer to DE-ENERGIZED HIGH-VOLTAGE SYSTEM .

-- Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER, BRINGING INTO SERVICE POSITION .

-- Remove the air intake manifold for the heating and A/C unit. Refer to HEATER AND A/C UNIT AIR INTAKE HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the towing eye cap -1- to the bumper cover.

-- Screw in the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Threaded Adapter:T10626/1 -1- into the towing eye mount in -direction of the arrow-.

-- Tighten the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Threaded Adapter:T10626/1 -1- in -direction of the arrow - above the 1/2 inch mount for the internal square -4- to 20 Nm.

-- Screw in the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Support:T10626/2 -2- in the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support:10-222A/19 -G-.

-- Remove the ball lock pin -3- from the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Support:T10626/2 -2-.

-- Slide the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Support:T10626/2 -2- on the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Threaded Adapter:T10626/1 -1-.

-- Select a suitable guide groove on the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Threaded Adapter:T10626/1 -1-.

-- Secure the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Support:T10626/2 -2- with ball lock pins -3-.

-- Twist together the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 19:10-222A/19 -G- with the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Support:T10626/2 -2- on the Engine Support Supplementary Set - Threaded Adapter:T10626/1 -1- and put it on the floor.

-- Slide the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 18:10-222A/18 -E- and the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 18:10-222A/18 -F- onto the cross bar of the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -B-.

-- The long arm of the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 18:10-222A/18 -E- and the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support 18:10-222A/18 -F- point in direction of travel.

-- Install the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support Feet:10-222A/8 -A- at the cross bar from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -B- at the left and right side.

-- Install the Engine Support Supplementary Set:T10626/3 -D- at the oblong hole of the cross bar from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -B- using the bolt M10 x 65 from the Engine Support Supplementary Set:T10626 .

Conditions

The side with the tool number of the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support Feet:10-222A/8 -A- points toward the inside.

-- Attach the cross bar from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -B- together with both Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support Feet: 10-222A/8 -A- on the top of the upper wheel housing longitudinal members.

Conditions

The oblong hole of the cross bar from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -B- is located on the right side of the vehicle.

-- Insert the Pipe:T40091/1 -C- into the support of the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support:10-222A/19 -G-.

-- Insert the Pipe:T40091/1 -C- into the Engine Support Supplementary Set:T10626/3 -D-.

-- Align the engine support.

-- Tighten the threaded connections on the engine/motor support bridge hand-tight.

-- Disconnect the connectors -3- from the A/C compressor -1-.

-- Unclip the cable bracket -4-.

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Remove the bolt for the potential equalization cable -4- on the A/C compressor -1-.

-- Install the Subframe Alignment Assembly Tool Kit- Locating Pins:T10346/1 -A- to the A/C compressor -3- using a M6 nut -1- and M6 bolt -2-.

-- Engage the spindle from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -D- to the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support:10-222A/18 -F-.

-- Engage the Engine Support Set - Special Hook (2 pc.):10-222A/20 -C- to the Subframe Alignment Assembly Tool Kit- Locating Pins:T10346/1 -A-.

-- Engage the spindle from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -D- to the Support Set - Special Hook (2 pc.):10-222A/20 -C-.

-- Guide the Tensioning Strap:T10523 -G- through underneath the A/C compressor -1-.

-- Slightly pretension the A/C compressor -1- with the spindle from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -D-, but do not lift.

-- Place the Tensioning Strap:T10523 -G- around the Engine Support Bridge - Engine Support:10-222A/18 -E-.

-- Slide the end of the Tensioning Strap:T10523 -G- into the tensioning strap lock.

-- Slightly pretension the A/C compressor -1- with the Tensioning Strap:T10523 -G-, but do not lift.

-- Evenly lift up the A/C compressor -1- using the Tensioning Strap:T10523 -G- and the spindle from the Engine Support Bridge:10-222A -D- until the A/C compressor -1- does not rest on the bracket -2- anymore.
