Instrument Panel CROSSMEMBER, Removing And Installing

The removing and installing is described as an example for a LHD vehicle.

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bulkhead. Refer to BULKHEAD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Windshield Wiper Motor -V-. Refer to WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR V, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel, Removing and Installing  .

North America

-- Remove the impact absorber. Refer to Impact Absorber, Removing and Installing  .

-- Remove the front passenger side footwell vent. Refer to FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the driver side footwell vent. Refer to DRIVER SIDE FOOTWELL VENT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Access/Start System Interface -J965-. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the Fuse Panel C -SC-. Refer to FUSE PANEL C SC, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519-. Refer to VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE J519, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bracket for the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-. Refer to INFORMATION ELECTRONICS CONTROL MODULE 1 J794 .

-- Detach the steering column from the instrument panel crossmember and place it on the underbody. Refer to STEERING COLUMN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Mark the height and side position of the instrument panel crossmember for reinstallation.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3-.

-- Remove the brace -1-.

Vehicles with Head Up Display

-- Remove the Windshield Projection Head Up Display Control Module -J898-. Refer to WINDSHIELD PROJECTION HEAD UP DISPLAY CONTROL MODULE J898, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the bolts -2-.

-- Free up the wires on the instrument panel crossmember.

-- Loosen the instrument panel crossmember and pull it slightly toward the rear.
