Overview - Steering Column, Version 1

CAUTION:

Always replace self-locking nuts.

Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.

If bolts or screws are tightened with an additional rotation angle, always replace.

  1. Instrument Panel Central Tube
  2. Steering Column
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to STEERING COLUMN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • The steering column must be engaged on the instrument panel central tube mounting bracket when installing (assembly aid).
    • There are different versions. Refer to the appropriate Electronic Parts Information.
  3. Right Bracket
    • For the knee airbag
  4. Bolt
    • Note the tightening sequence
    • Always replace after removing
    • 20 Nm
  5. Bolt
    • Always replace after removing
    • 20 Nm
  6. Left Bracket
    • For the knee airbag
  7. Bolt
    • Always replace after removing
    • 20 Nm +90°
  8. Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-
  9. Bolt
    • Quantity: 3
    • 6 Nm
