Rear Side Window, Removing And Installing: Removing
Removing the rear side window is described using the Flush Bonded Window Kit: V.A.G 1474 B .
The Cutting Tool for Bonded Windows: VAS 6452 can also be used.
-- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel. Refer to LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Risk of damaging the component surfaces.
- Tape off the surrounding components in the visible area using commercially available adhesive tape.
-- Pull the Cutting Cord: VAS 861 001/1A -1- with Awl: V.A.G 1474/2 -2- inward through the adhesive sealant.
-- Press the seal on the rear side window to the side.
-- Secure one end of the Window Removal Set - Cutting Cord: VAS 861 001/1A -3- on the Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle: V.A.G 1351/1 -2- to counterhold.
-- Insert the Cutting Cord: VAS 861 001/1A -3- behind the seal in the window flange using the Awl: V.A.G 1474/2 -1-.
-- Secure the end of the Cutting Cord: VAS 861 001/1A -1- in the vehicle interior on the Window Reel Device: V.A.G 1654A -3-.
Tip
Increased force is necessary in the area near the clips -4-.
-- Move the Window Reel Device: V.A.G 1654A -3- to cut free the rear side window.
-- Press the Cutting Cord: VAS 861 001/1A -1- against the glass using the Wedges: V.A.G 1474/5 -2- while cutting free to ensure there is clearance on the window flange.
