Engine And Transmission, Separating

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

AWD Vehicles 

-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to [For transmission(s) 09P] Bevel Box .

All Vehicles 

-- Remove the six converter nuts -arrow- using the :V/175  .

-- Turn the engine in the direction of engine rotation 60° additional turn using the :T10172A  .

NOTE:

The torque converter will be pulled out when the transmission is separated from the engine if all 6 nuts are not removed!

-- Remove the transmission/oil pan bolts -arrows-.

-- Remove the front engine to transmission bolts -1-. The upper bolt is secured with a nut -arrow-.

-- Remove the upper transmission/engine bolts -arrows- using a 12-point socket.

-- When removing the transmission -3- from the engine, push the torque converter -1- with, for example, a screwdriver -2- against the transmission in direction of -arrow-.

-- After removing the transmission, secure the torque converter from falling.
