Engine And Transmission, Separating, Vehicles With 6-Speed DSG Transmission
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Support Bridge - Special Hook (2 pc.) :10 - 222 A /20
- Engine Sling - Engine Bracket :2024 A /1 from the Engine Sling :2024 A
- Shop Crane :VAS6100
- Engine Bung Set :VAS6122
There may be consequential damage due to a damaged needle bearing.
- If the engine and transmission are separated, the needle bearing on the crankshaft must be replaced. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .
Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and secured on the :T10497 .
-- Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the nut -arrows- and remove the front bracket from the transmission fluid pan.
The threaded bolts are welded to the front of the oil pan.
AWD Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2- and remove the bracket for the bevel box.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
Place a cleaning cloth underneath to catch any coolant leaking out.
Ignore Hose Clamps - Up To 25mm :3094 .
-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses from the transmission fluid cooler.
-- Remove the bolts -1- and move the Transmission Coolant Valve -N488- to the side.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the :VAS6122 .
-- Engage the hook from the :2024 A on the transmission lifting eye and secure it with the retainer -arrow-.
-- Use the :10 - 222 A /20 to engage the :VAS6100 on the :2024 A /1 .
-- Remove the bolts -1 to 8- for the transmission/engine connection.
Ignore -item A-.
-- Remove the transmission from the engine.
-- Before assembling, replace the needle bearing in the crankshaft. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .
