Ribbed Belt, Checking Condition

Please Perform The Following Procedure:

-- Remove the "lower" engine compartment cover (noise insulation). Refer to LOWER ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER (NOISE INSULATION), REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Turn the engine at the vibration damper/belt pulley using a suitable socket.

Check Ribbed Belt -1- For:

CAUTION:
  • It is essential to replace ribbed belt if malfunctions are found.
  • Ribbed belts on diesel engines, which have come into contact with oils, brake fluid, fuel or AdBlue, must always be replaced.
  • Ribbed belts on gasoline engines, which have come into contact with oils, brake fluid, fuel or coolant, must always be replaced.
  • This will prevent any belt malfunctions.
  • Replacing the belt is a repair procedure.

-- Install the engine compartment cover (noise insulation) "bottom". Refer to LOWER ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVER (NOISE INSULATION), REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
