Removing
-- Move the selector lever to >>P<<.
-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CDVC] or AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DCGA, CXDA] .
-- Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to Battery .
-- Pry the selector lever cable -1- off the selector shaft lever -2- using for example an open end wrench.
-- Disconnect the connector -6- from the Multifunction Transmission Range Switch -F125- and free up the wire at the bracket.
-- Remove the bolts -5- from the cable bracket -4-. Do not remove the lock washer -3-.
-- Disengage the selector lever cable -1- from the bracket clip -2-.
Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
So that the cable is not damaged when removing and installing the transmission, secure the cable with a cable tie on the body in a suitable position.
-- Remove the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the upper bolts -arrows- connecting the transmission to the engine, for example, with a 12-point flex head socket wrench.
-- So that the >>rear<< spindle from the extractor has enough >>clearance<<, remove the bracket for the coolant hoses.
-- If there are hose and cable connections located near the engine lifting eyes for the : 10-222A , these must now be removed.
-- Attach the : 10-222A as shown: At the same time the foot -11- from the : 10-222A/19 -10- supports itself in the notch of the longitudinal member.
The following are needed:
- : 10-222A/35 -1- (quantity 2)
- Spindle from the : 10-222A -2- (quantity 3)
- : T40091/3 -3-
- : T40091/1 -4-
- : 10-222A/3 -5-
- : T10013 -6-
- Square pipe from the : 10-222A -7-
- : 10-222A/12 -8-
- : 10-222A/18 -9-
- : 10-222A/19 -10- with base -11-
- : 2024A/1
- : T10346
- : T10346/1
- M6 x 40 collar bolt
- Push the : 10-222A/16 additionally on the left side of the Engine Support Bridge. Refer to Fig 1.
- When the : 10-222A is complete the : 10-222A/16 is located between the : 10-222A/18 and the left : 10-222A/35 .
- The : 10-222A/16 secures the : 10-222A later in the procedure.
-- Push the : 10-222A/18 and : 10-222A/3 on the : 10-222A .
Secure the 10-222A as Shown
-- Fasten the : T10346 or Engine Support Device - Gearbox Bracket : T10346/1 to the rear left locating holes for the battery tray.
-- Use a M6 x 40 collar bolt or one of the bolts for the battery tray.
Secure the : 10-222A/12 in the uppermost hole of the : 2024A/1 .
-- Secure the : 2024A/1 with the connector lock -arrow-.
-- Then engage the : 10-222A/11 in the engine lifting eyes.
-- Pretension the engine/transmission assembly and : 10-222A via the : 10-222A/11 .
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the connector from the transmission as follows Push the retainer -1- in direction of -arrow-, open the hook -2- and then remove the connector -3- from the transmission.
-- Remove the bolt -A- and the ATF lines -2- from the thermostat -1-. The bolts -B- are not removed.
-- Seal the ATF lines and connections on the thermostat with suitable plugs taken from the : VAS6122 .
Remove the subframe. Refer to Subframe .
-- Remove the right and left drive axle from the transmission. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Secure both driveshafts to the suspension strut using the : T10038 .
Do not damage the surface protection of the shafts.
AWD Vehicles
-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING, VEHICLES WITH 3.6L, 206 KW ENGINE .
For All Vehicles:
-- Remove the six converter nuts -arrow- with the : V/175 .
-- To do so, turn the engine 60° further in the direction of engine rotation using the : T10172A .
If all six torque converter nuts are not removed, the torque converter will be pulled out when removing the transmission from the engine!
Use the : T03003 to counterhold at the belt pulley/vibration damper when loosening the torque converter nuts.
-- Remove the transmission/fluid pan bolts -arrows-.
-- Remove the front bolts for attaching the engine to the transmission -1-. The upper bolt is secured with a nut -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the left subframe mount for the transmission.
-- Lower approximately to the dimension -a- using the spindles on the : 10-222A .
Dimension -a- = Approximately 70 mm
The transmission is disconnected from the engine in this position.
-- Place the : 3282 -A- on the : VAS6931 -B-.
Install the : 3282 on the Transmission as Follows With the Mounting Elements:
