Ribbed Belt, Checking Condition

Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Counterhold - Multiple Use: T10172A
- Bolts: T10172A/1
Procedure
-- Turn the engine by the vibration damper using the Counterhold - Multiple Use: T10172A and Counterhold - Multiple Use - Bolts: T10172A/1
Check ribbed belt -1- for:
- Sub-surface cracks (cracks, core ruptures, cross sectional breaks)
- Separation (cover layer, belt cords)
- Breaks at lower layer
- Fraying of cords
- Wear at flanks (material wear, frayed flanks, hardening or glazing of flanks, surface cracks)
CAUTION:
Identified defects such as sub-surface cracks, separation, breaks at lower layer, fraying of cords or wear at flanks.
Failures and malfunction of the generator/engine/belt drive.
- Replacing the ribbed belt.
CAUTION:
Gasoline and diesel engines which came into contact with oils, brake fluid, fuels or AdBlue.

- Replacing the ribbed belt.
