Safety Precautions

To reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the fuel injection and ignition system, always observe the following:

• The ignition must be switched off before connecting or disconnecting injection and ignition system wiring or tester cables.
• Do not touch or remove ignition wires when engine is running or turning at starter speed.

If special testing equipment is required during road test, note the following:

• Test and measuring instruments must be secured to rear seat and operated by a second person from this location.

If the vehicle is involved in a collision while testing and measuring equipment is operated from the front passenger seat, the person sitting in that seat could be seriously injured when the airbag deploys.

• If engine is to be cranked at starting RPM without starting:

-- Unclip the cover strip off the ignition wiring harness in direction of -arrows- and move it forward from the tabs -A-.

-- Disconnect the connectors from ignition coils 1 to 6 using the :T10118  .

-- To do this, position the : T10118  on the release button -arrow- and carefully pull the connector down.

-- Pull the fuse for the fuel pump out of the fuse holder. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
