Transmission, Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

NOTE:

After installing a new transmission, reprogram the immobilizer.

-- Replace the needle bearing -arrow- in the crankshaft. Refer to CRANKSHAFT NEEDLE BEARING, REPLACING .

-- Lightly grease the pins and splines on the transmission with High Temperature Grease. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- If the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine and transmission are missing inside the cylinder block, then install the alignment sleeves.

-- Make sure the intermediate plate is seated correctly.

Guide the Engine and Transmission Together by Hand until the Engine Flange and Transmission Flange Come into Contact with One Another All Around.

-- Adjust the transmission support until the engine and transmission are >>aligned<<.

-- Turn the crankshaft slightly if necessary.

NOTE:

Pay attention to the selector lever cable when lifting the transmission. Guide the cable into the cable bracket as early as possible.

The cable is not lubricated.

-- Attach the transmission to the engine.

-- Install the new bolts -arrows- on the transmission mounts. Tightening specification. Refer to ASSEMBLY MOUNTS .

-- Install the pendulum support with new bolts. Tightening Specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .

-- Install the starter. Refer to STARTER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the drive axles. Refer to DRIVE AXLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the right drive axle heat shield -arrows-. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the screen -1- from the transmission fluid cooler -2- carefully using a screwdriver and check for contamination.

-- If necessary clean and clip in the screen again.

-- Attach the coolant hoses to the transmission fluid cooler.

-- Install the wiring bracket on the oil pan.

-- Install the connectors on the transmission.

-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .

-- Install the battery tray and the battery. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Check the coolant level. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Install the lower section of the left front wheel housing liner. Refer to FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
