Cooling Output, Checking

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

This service information only outlines the testing procedure. Perform the exact test as written. Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the Guided Fault Finding  function.

Checking

-- Close the hood.

-- Measure the ambient temperature.

-- Close the doors, windows and sliding sunroof.

-- Open all instrument panel vents.

-- Set the A/C system temperature to the "coldest" setting.

-- Position the air distribution on center air vent.

-- Hold the temperature sensor -2- from the :VAS6519  approximately 20 mm into the displayed area -3- of the instrument panel vent -1-.

-- Turn on the A/C System by pressing the AC  button.

-- Start the engine.

NOTE:

Start the timer (5 min).

-- Bring engine to 2000 RPM and hold it there.

Evaluate

The temperature of the air coming out of the "driver side" instrument panel vents must be within the tolerance range (see diagram) after five minutes, depending on the ambient temperature.
