Catalytic Converter, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Release the tabs on the side and remove the cover -1- from the air guide.
-- Unclip the air guide -2-.
-- Remove the bolt -A-, disconnect the connector -B-, loosen the spring clamp -C- and remove the air filter housing and connecting hose. Pay attention to the mark -D-.
-- Remove the throttle valve control module.
-- Disconnect all electric connectors from the heated oxygen sensors.
-- Free up electrical wires to oxygen sensors.
-- Loosen the nuts on the front exhaust pipe -arrows- (accessible from the top) from the exhaust manifolds.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the heat shield above the right drive axle.
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe nuts (accessible from underneath) from the exhaust manifolds -arrows-.
Danger of causing damage to the decoupling element.
- Do not bend the decoupling element more than 10°.
- Do not stretch the decoupling element.
- Do not damage the wire mesh on the decoupling element.
-- Free up electrical wires to oxygen sensors.
-- Loosen the exhaust system bracket -arrows-.
-- Remove the underbody tunnel bridge -A and B-.
-- Separate the exhaust system at the clamp -1-.
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe with the catalytic converters and front mufflers from the exhaust manifold.
