Windshield, Removing And Installing: Removing
Removing the bonded windows is described using the :VAG1474 B .
The :VAS6452 can also be used.
The :VAS6888 can also be used.
-- Remove the left and right A-pillar upper trim panels. Refer to VEHICLE INTERIOR TRIM PANELS .
-- Remove the left and right sun visors. Refer to EQUIPMENT .
-- Remove the interior rearview mirror. Refer to INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR .
-- For vehicles with a Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera -R242-, remove the front camera. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Remove the headliner near the windshield. Refer to ROOF TRIM PANELS .
-- The headliner can now be lowered far enough so that the windshield can be cut out without damaging the headliner.
-- Plenum chamber cover. Refer to PLENUM CHAMBER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
-- Install the :VAG1474/8 -1- between the windshield and the instrument panel.
-- Pull the cutting wire -1- with the :VAG1474/2 through the adhesive inside the passenger compartment.
-- Secure the cutting wire end from being pulled out using the :VAG1351/1 -3-.
-- Insert the cutting wire -2- into the window glass flange using the small tube -1-.
-- Lay the cutting wire around the windshield.
-- Make sure that the cutting wire is inserted under windshield at the corners.
-- Secure the second cord end to :VAG1654 A .
-- Set :VAG1654 A into "Position I".
-- Move :VAG1654 A according to position required and cut windshield free.
-- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic wedge in order to have clearance from window flange and instrument cluster.
