Selector Lever Handle, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal while noting the following:

It is possible that the button -arrow- is pressed into the handle. Never install the handle when the button is pressed in.

NOTE:

A new handle is delivered with an assembly fastener. Pull out the retainer in the direction of the -arrow- just before installing.

The installation position can be set again using the assembly fastener. Refer to BUTTON IN HANDLE, MOVING INTO INSTALLATION POSITION .

-- Push the handle with a new clamp -arrow- all the way onto the selector lever.

-- Tighten the new clamp using the : VAG1275A  .

-- Press the button after installation.

NOTE:

If the button stays in the handle after being pressed, this means it was installed incorrectly. If this happens, remove the handle again and move the button into the installation position again. Refer to BUTTON IN HANDLE, MOVING INTO INSTALLATION POSITION . Then the handle can be installed again.
