Left Engine Mount, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Position the front wheels so they are straight.
Danger of causing damage to electronic components.
- Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.
-- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) cable -2-, refer to Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control .
-- Remove the engine cover, refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left and right air filter housing, refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Position the Engine Support Bridge10-222A with T40091/3, T40091/4, T40091/5, Engine Support BracketsT40093/7 and Engine Support BracketsT40093/8 on the left and right suspension strut towers as illustrated.
-- Mount the additional tools T40091/1, T40093/3, Engine Support BracketsT40093/3-4 and T40093/4 as shown in the illustration.
-- Mount the tools T40091/2 and T40093/5 with the Spindles10 -222A/11, as shown in the illustration.
-- Attach the spindle to the engine lifting eyes and pretension the engine slightly.
-- Remove the noise insulations -1 and 2-, refer to Noise Insulation .
-- Remove the left and right underbody panel -2-, refer to Underbody Panel .
-- Remove the left and right lower longitudinal member, refer to Lock Carrier .
-- Remove the left and right front wheel housing liners completely, refer to Wheel Housing Liner .
-- Remove the left and right drive axles from the transmission flange shaft, refer to Drive Axle .
-- Disconnect the left and right connector -arrow- from the Left Front Level Control System Sensor -G78- / Right Front Level Control Sensor -G289- and free up the wires.
-- Remove the left and right stabilizer bar bolt -1-.
Ignore -2 and 3-.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -3-.
Ignore items -1 and 2-.
-- Remove the power steering hydraulic line bolt -arrow-.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- from the transmission mount.
-- Remove the steering intermediate shaft from the steering gear push them upward, refer to Steering .
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 2-.
-- Remove electrical connectors from bracket and disconnect:
- For the Left Electrohydraulic Engine Mount Solenoid Valve -N144-
- For the Servotronic Solenoid Valve -N119-
-- Remove the bolts -1 and 3- and -arrows-.
The retaining plate -2- for the left engine mount remains in its installed position.
-- Disconnect the connectors -2- and free them up.
-- Remove the right engine mount bolt -1-.
-- Support the subframe using Engine/Gearbox JackVAG1383A as shown in the illustration.
-- Mark the location of the subframe to the longitudinal members using a felt-tip pen.
-- Remove the left and right subframe bolts -1, 2 and 3- in a diagonal sequence.
The suspension components could be damaged.
- Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace were not installed correctly.
-- Lower the subframe using the Engine/Gearbox JackVAG1383A just enough so that the left engine mount can be removed, while at the same time paying attention to the clearance for the left hydraulic oil hoses and the right electrical wires.
-- Remove the left engine mount.
