Air Line, Servicing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Hose Cutting Pliers :VAS6228
Defective air lines do not have to be completely replaced. Partial replacement is possible using a connector.
Allocation of air line/connector. Refer to the Parts Information.
Repair area must be protected from splash water, for example in vehicle interior or between wheel housing liner and wheel housing.
Harness connector must be secured to body or to cable guide using cable ties.
Select the straight line segments for the repair location.
-- Clean connector piece area and corresponding separation point.
-- Make a straight cut in the air line on the vehicle at the separation point using the Hose Cutting Pliers :VAS6228 .
-- Remove connector piece and air line.
-- Mark -arrows- the end of the air line in the vehicle and on the replacement part with a waterproof pen.
The marks at 17 mm and 22 mm are used as a check after a repair is made.
-- Route a new air line along the original securing points.
Install a New Line Connector
Connector pieces in the connector are already tightened to proper torque. Air lines only have to be connected.
-- Remove transport protection cap.
-- Push the old air line through the sealing rings -1-.
-- Then use slight pressure to push the air line through the edges of the cutting ring -2- into the line connector to the stop.
The air lines have been inserted far enough into the harness connector when the first color code -arrow A- is no longer visible but the second color code -arrow B- is still visible.
-- Repeat the procedure with the new air line.
