Power Steering Pump, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Replace the gaskets and seals.

Before installing the new power steering pump on the intake side, fill the Hydraulic Fluid and install it by hand until oil drains out on the high pressure side.

Hose supports and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installation.

Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- Install the power steering pump, tightening the front bolts first.

-- Install the ribbed belt, and then check ribbed belt alignment. Refer to Crankshaft, Cylinder Block .

NOTE:

Make sure the ribbed belt fits correctly in the belt pulley.

1 - Belt pulley - generator

2 - Idler Roller

3 - Idler Roller

4 - Belt pulley - coolant pump

5 - Belt pulley - power steering pump

6 - Ribbed belt pulley - A/C compressor

7 - Tensioning roller

8 - Belt pulley - crankshaft

-- Bleed steering system. Refer to POWER STEERING SYSTEM, BLEEDING .

-- Check the hydraulic fluid level and fill if necessary. Refer to POWER STEERING, CHECKING FLUID LEVEL .

-- Check the steering system for leaks. Refer to STEERING SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .

Tightening Specification

Ribbed belt pulley to power steering pump	22 Nm
Pressure line to power steering pump Use a new seal.	9 Nm
Power steering pump to bracket	22 Nm
