- Subframe mount. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .
- Engine to transmission. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0BK] Transmission Tightening Specifications .
Procedure
Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.
Replace the self-locking nuts and bolts, as well as the seals, gaskets and O-rings.
The hose connections as well as air duct pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match the ones used in series production. Refer to the Parts Information.
During installation, install all cable ties back at the same position.
-- Install the engine support and engine mount. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .
-- The following preparations must be made before connecting the engine and transmission:
-- Turn the torque converter so that hole next to the notch -arrow- is visible in the lower cut-out in the transmission housing as shown.
There is only one notch on the circumference, so rotate the torque converter as needed.
-- Insert the Clutch Module Transportation Lock:T40170 in the transmission housing from below and secure it on the flange shaft -1-.
-- When joining the engine and subframe, hold the ATF lines in their installation position.
-- Check if the alignment sleeves -A- for centering the engine and transmission are in the cylinder block and insert them if they are not.
-- Inspect the aluminum bolts used to connect the engine to the transmission to check if they can be used again and mark them, if necessary. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0BK] Transmission Tightening Specifications .
-- Position the transmission on the engine while paying attention to the starter.
-- Tighten the bolts -1 through 14-.
-- Remove the Clutch Module Transportation Lock:T40170 .
The following step is necessary to make sure the torque converter rests on the drive plate evenly and is not tilted.
-- Press the torque converter -2- against the drive plate -3- slightly in the direction of -arrow- using an extractor lever -1-.
-- Install the first bolt -arrow- and tighten by hand (2 Nm).
-- Turn the crankshaft using the Counterhold - Multiple Use:T10172A and Pin:T10172/1 an additional 180° turn in the direction of engine rotation in direction of -arrow-.
-- Tighten the bolts that are accessible in this crankshaft position to the tightening specification. Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER .
-- Turn the crankshaft 60° farther and tighten the remaining five bolts to the tightening specification. Refer to TORQUE CONVERTER .
-- Install the ribbed belt idler roller. Refer to RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Tighten the drive axles on the transmission flange shafts. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
-- Install the ATF cooler. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0BK] ATF Cooler, Removing and Installing .
-- Install the right coolant pipe on the transmission. Refer to RIGHT COOLANT PIPE ON TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the secondary air injection pump. Refer to SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP MOTOR -V101- /SECONDARY AIR INJECTION PUMP MOTOR 2 -V189-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the ATF lines. Refer to [For transmission(s) 0BK] ATF Lines, Removing and Installing .
Vehicles through MY 2013:
-- Install the power steering hydraulic line. Refer to POWER STEERING HYDRAULICS .
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Install the exhaust manifold and catalytic converters. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKETS, REPLACING .
-- Install the transmission mount and the transmission support. Refer to TRANSMISSION SUPPORT WITH REAR TRANSMISSION MOUNT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- First lift up the engine/transmission assembly using the Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B only to the dimension -a-.
- Dimension -a- = minimum 100 mm
-- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to .
-- Lift the engine/transmission assembly further using the Scissor Lift Table:VAS6131B .
-- Align the subframe and tunnel crossmember using the marks made on the longitudinal members during removal.
-- Tighten the tunnel crossmember bolts. Refer to ASSEMBLY MOUNTS .
-- Tighten the subframe bolts only to the tightening specifications and with no additional turns (tighten the bolts only after axle alignment). Refer to .
Risk of accident due to loose threaded connections.
- If the subframe bolts are not tightened to final torque, the vehicle must not be driven.
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Install the emergency release cable. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM .
-- Install the driveshaft. Refer to DRIVESHAFT, REMOVING FROM REAR FINAL DRIVE AND INSTALLING .
-- Attach the steering intermediate shaft to the steering gear. Refer to Steering Intermediate Shaft, Removing and Installing .
-- Install the upper control arm and suspension strut. Refer to SUSPENSION STRUT AND UPPER CONTROL ARM .
-- Install the subframe crossbrace and stabilizer bar. Refer to SUBFRAME .
-- Install the braces on the transmission mounts. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME MOUNT .
-- Install the brake caliper. Refer to FRONT BRAKE CALIPER .
