Basic Diagnostic Procedure: Procedure

CAUTION: Remove foreign matter (dust, water, oil etc.) from the VDCCM&H/U connector during removal and installation.

NOTE:

To check the harness for open or short circuits, shake problem spot or connector.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE CHART

1 CHECK PRE-INSPECTION. Ask the customer when and how the trouble occurred using the interview check list. < Ref. to CHECK LIST FOR INTERVIEW . > Before performing diagnostics, check the component which might affect VDC problems. < Ref. to INSPECTION , General Description. >	Is the component that might influence the VDC problem normal?	Go to step 2.	Repair or replace each component.
2 CHECK INDICATION OF DTC. Turn the ignition switch to OFF. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to data link connector. Turn the ignition switch to ON and run the Subaru Select Monitor. Read the DTC using the Subaru Select Monitor. < Ref. to OPERATION , Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). > NOTE: If the communication function of the Subaru Select Monitor cannot be executed properly, check the communication circuit. < Ref. to COMMUNICATION FOR INITIALIZING IMPOSSIBLE , INSPECTION, Subaru Select Monitor. >	Is DTC displayed on Subaru Select Monitor?	Record the DTC. Go to step 4.	Go to step 3 .
3 PERFORM GENERAL DIAGNOSTICS. Perform the inspection by referring to "General Diagnostic Table". < Ref. to INSPECTION , General Diagnostic Table. > Perform the Clear Memory Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Clear Memory Mode. > Perform the Inspection Mode. < Ref. to PROCEDURE , Inspection Mode. > Read the DTC. < Ref. to OPERATION , Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). > Check the DTC is not displayed.	Do the VDC warning light, VDC indicator light, and ABS warning light go off after starting the engine?	Finish the diagnosis.	Check the combination meter circuit. < Ref. to ABS WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF , Warning Light Illumination Pattern. > < Ref. to VDC WARNING LIGHT AND VDC INDICATOR LIGHT DO NOT GO OFF , Warning Light Illumination Pattern. > < Ref. to VDC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT GO OFF , Warning Light Illumination Pattern. >
4 CHECK FREEZE FRAME DATA Using the Subaru Select Monitor, check the freeze frame data of the VDC control module.	Are freeze frame data recorded?	Record the freeze frame data. Go to step 5.	Go to step 5 .
5 PERFORM DIAGNOSIS. Refer to "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". NOTE: For the DTC list, refer to "List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC)". < Ref. to LIST , List of Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). > Correct the cause of trouble. Perform the Clear Memory Mode. < Ref. to OPERATION , Clear Memory Mode. > Perform the Inspection Mode. < Ref. to PROCEDURE , Inspection Mode. > Read the DTC. < Ref. to OPERATION , Read Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). >	Is DTC displayed?	Repeat step 5 until DTC is not shown.	Finish the diagnosis.
