Rear Climate Control Housing: Removal

NOTE: During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.
NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation And Charging - Vehicles With: R1234Yf Refrigerant or Air Conditioning (A/C) System Recovery, Evacuation and Charging - Vehicles With: R134A Refrigerant .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to:COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, VACUUM FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  3. Remove the RH loadspace trim panel. Refer to:LOADSPACE TRIM PANEL .
  4. NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    Disconnect the quick release couplings from the rear heater core. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

  5. Remove the nut and position the rear thermostatic expansion valve manifold and tube assembly aside.

    • Make sure to cover any open ports to prevent debris from entering the system.

      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Remove the bolts.

      Torque: 71 lb.in (8 Nm)

  6. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the rear footwell duct.

    1. Disconnect the duct.
    2. Remove the rear climate control housing.
