Engine And Transmission, Separating: Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and placed on the :VAS6131B .
-- Remove the ribbed belt tensioner for the supercharger. Refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, SUPERCHARGER RIBBED BELT .
-- Remove the connector -2- for the Oxygen Sensor 2 after Catalytic Converter -G131- from the bracket and disconnect it. Free up the wire.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the bolt -1- and the left catalytic converter.
There is a risk of destroying the transmission control module (Mechatronic) with static discharge.
- Always "discharge" the static electricity. Do this by touching a grounded object, for example vehicle ground, the vehicle or the hoist.
- Do not touch contacts in transmission connector with hands.
-- Turn the twist lock counter-clockwise in direction of -arrow- and disconnect the connector from the transmission.
-- Free up the wiring harness on the transmission.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- on the Transmission Fluid Cooling Valve -N509- and free up the wire.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose.
-- Remove the connector -1- for the Oxygen Sensor after Three Way Catalytic Converter -G130- from the bracket and disconnect it.
Ignore item -2-.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and the bolt -1- and remove the right catalytic converter.
-- Lift the clip -arrows- and remove the connection.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- on the Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the left drive axle heat shield.
-- Remove the left and right drive axle from the transmission flange shaft. Refer to DRIVE AXLE .
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
Place a cloth underneath to catch any escaping ATF.
-- Loosen the clamp -1- and remove the ATF cooler from the right coolant pipe on the transmission.
-- Move the ATF cooler to the side.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the Engine Speed Sensor -G28-.
Ignore item -1-.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in direction of -arrow-.
-- Insert the :T40058 guide pins as follows:
- The large diameter -arrow 1- faces the engine.
- The small diameter -arrow 2- faces the adapter.
-- Counterhold the crankshaft and loosen the drive plate bolts using :T40058 and a wrench.
Only turn crankshaft only in direction of engine rotation -arrow-.
-- Remove the 6 bolts -arrow- from the clutch module. Turn the crankshaft an additional 60° in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Equip the :VAS6131B with the :VAS6131/10 and :VAS6131/11 , and :VAS6131/13-7 as follows:
The other attachments remain unchanged.
| Table Coordinates | Components from the :VAS6131/10 , :VAS6131/11 and :VAS6131/13-7 | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F2 | /13-7 | |||
| B10 | /10-1 | /10-3 | /10-5 | /11-4 |
| G10 | /10-1 | /10-3 | /10-5 | /11-4 |
-- Secure the :VAS6131/13-7 on the right front of the engine in the ribbed belt tensioner threaded hole, as shown in the illustration.
-- Tighten the :VAS6131/13-7 to 20 Nm on the scissor lift table.
-- Attach the mounting elements from the :VAS6131/10 and :VAS6131/11-4 on the front of the transmission, as shown in illustration.
-- Turn the left and right spindles until the :VAS6131/11-4 are firmly touching the transmission.
-- Attach mounting element base plates to : VAS6131B and tighten to 20 Nm.
-- Remove the starter bolts -1 and 2-.
-- Press the starter off the transmission and leave it in the installation position.
-- Remove the remaining bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.
Ignore item -A-.
-- Loosen the clamping screws -1- on sides of :VAS6131B and pull the rear table top with the transmission toward rear -arrow-.
