Block Heater: Removal

Thermostat mounted (if equipped) 

  1. 1.

    Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering .

  1. 2.

    NOTE: To install, route the block heater power cable away from hot or rotating components, or the cable can be damaged.

    Disconnect the block heater electrical connector and unclip the vapor tube from the reataining clip.

  1. 3.

    Remove the bolt and the CAC tube bracket.
    • To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  1. 4.

    Remove the block heater.
    • To install, tighten to 6.2 Nm (55 lb-in).

Block mounted (if equipped) 

  1. 5.

    Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .

  1. 6.

    Release the underbody splash shield fasteners and remove the underbody splash shield.

  1. 7.

    If equipped, remove the skid plate bolts and remove the skid plate.
    • To install tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

      Position the block heater harness heat shield aside.

    1. 2.

      Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

  1. 9.

    Using the block heater socket remove the block heater.
    • To install tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
