Front Disc Brake Pads

-- To assess the remaining pad thickness more easily, use a mirror and, if necessary, remove the wheel on the side where the brake pad wear indicator is installed.

-- Remove the wheel bolt caps, if necessary. Refer to WHEEL BOLTS, TIGHTENING TO SPECIFICATION .

-- Mark the position of the wheel in relation to the brake rotor.

-- Remove the wheel bolts and then the wheel.

-- Measure the thickness of the outer and inner brake pad.

Permissible Wear: 2 mm 

With pad thickness (without backing plate) of 2 mm, the brake pads have reached their wear limit and must be replaced (repair procedure). Notify the customer.

NOTE:

When replacing the disc brake pads, it is absolutely necessary to check brake rotors for wear! Checking and replacing the brake pads, if necessary, is a repair procedure.

-- Check the brake rotor for wear:

Procedure 

Refer to OVERVIEW - FRONT BRAKES .

-- Install the wheel in the previously marked position.

-- Tighten the wheel bolts in a diagonal sequence. For the tightening specification, refer to WHEEL BOLTS, TIGHTENING TO SPECIFICATION .

-- After the procedures have been completed, return the adapter to the vehicle tool kit.

-- Pull off wheel bolt caps, if necessary.
