Inspection and Verification

Diagnostics in this article assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices. Refer to Diagnostic Methods in Service Information for more information.

    Verify the customer concern by operating the charging system.

    Before diagnosing or repairing the charging system inspect the following items:

    Check the battery condition and state of charge. Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables Diagnosing and Testing.

  1. 4.

    Check for abnormal ignition-off current drain(s). Refer to Battery, Mounting and Cables General Procedures.

  1. 5.

    If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding.

  1. 6.

    Using the diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). Refer to the appropriate DTC Chart in this article.
