Brake Fluid, Changing: Notes
Special Tools And Workshop Equipment Required
- Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit:VAS5234
- Wrench - Brake Bleeder Set:VAS5519
- Brake Bleeding Tool Set:VAS6564
-- Remove the cap -1- from the brake fluid reservoir.
-- Use the hose from the :VAS5234 to extract as much brake fluid as possible.
The screen -1- inside the brake fluid reservoir must not be removed.
Do not use extracted brake fluid again!
-- Attach the adapter -1- to the brake fluid reservoir.
Observe the Operating Instructions for :VAS5234 !
-- Set the correct pressure using a : VAS5234 . Refer to HYDRAULIC SYSTEM .
-- Connect the hose on the :VAS5234 to the adapter -1-.
Use a suitable bleeder hose. It must seat tightly on the bleeder valve so that no air can get into the brake system.
-- Remove the cap -1- from the breather valve on the left front brake caliper.
-- Attach the :VAS5519 .
-- Connect collector bottle breather hose -1- to left front bleeder valve. Then open the bleeder valve and allow the corresponding quantity to flow out (see table). Close the bleeder valve. Torque. Refer to FRONT BRAKE CALIPER .
-- Install the cap on the left front brake caliper bleeder valve.
Repeat the same procedure on the right front side of the vehicle.
-- Remove both rear wheels to access the breather valve.
-- Remove the cap -1- on the left rear brake caliper breather valve.
-- Attach the :VAS5519 .
-- Connect the collector bottle breather hose -1- to the left rear bleeder valve.
-- Open the bleeder valve and let the corresponding brake fluid capacity flow out. Close the bleeder valve. Torque. Refer to FRONT BRAKE CALIPER .
-- Install the cap on the left rear brake caliper bleed valve.
-- Repeat the same procedure on the right rear side of the vehicle.
For Manual Transmission Vehicles
Remove the air filter housing.
Procedure:
-- Refer to AIR FILTER [For engine(s) CVCA] .
or
-- Refer to AIR FILTER [For engine(s) DDSB, DDSA] or AIR FILTER [For engine(s) CDVB] or AIR FILTER [For engine(s) CPRA, CPKA] .
-- Attach the breather hose to the breather valve -arrow- on the clutch slave cylinder -1-.
-- Open the valve and drain approximately 100 ml brake fluid.
-- Close the value and press the clutch pedal quickly 10 to 15 times.
-- Open the valve again and drain approximately 50 ml brake fluid.
-- Close the valve, remove the bleed hose and press the clutch pedal several times.
-- Install the air filter housing in reverse order of removal.
