Overview - Selector Mechanism

Note radio code on vehicles with coded radio.

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery when working on the gearshift mechanism inside the engine compartment. Refer to Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control .

Connect the battery and follow the procedures to be performed after connecting a battery. Refer to Battery, Starter, Generator, Cruise Control . .

When working on the selector mechanism in the engine compartment, remove the complete air filter housing, if it is located above the selector mechanism. Refer to [For engine(s) CVCA] Air Filter . or [For engine(s) CNLA] Air Filter[For engine(s) CZTA] Air Filter[For engine(s) CBPA] Air Filter[For engine(s) CPPA, CPRA, CPKA, CPLA] Air Filter .

The shift mechanism must be removed in order to replace the operating cables. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Do not bend the operating cables.
