Transmission Identification

Reading the Transmission Code on the Transmission Installed

To read the transmission code letters under the console directly from the transmission, the engine and transmission must be supported. The left subframe mount transmission bracket -A- must be removed. It is important to lower the engine/transmission just enough until it is possible to slide the bracket toward the rear. Do not lower farther otherwise the pendulum support will be damaged. Transmission bracket, removing and installing. Refer to TRANSMISSION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

NOTE:

Additionally the transmission code it on top of the transmission near the selector lever cable -arrows-.

The transmission code is also listed in the vehicle data plates.
