Moving into Service Position
The lock carrier is a safety related component. For this reason it cannot be serviced.
Replace the lock carrier if it is damaged.
-- Remove the left and right headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING (CONVERTIBLE) .
-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the cable from the cable coupling. Refer to RELEASE CABLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bracket next to the left and right headlamps. Refer to OVERVIEW - GUIDES AND BRACKETS .
-- If the vehicle has a charge air cooler, remove the pressure hoses. Refer to CHARGE AIR COOLER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CPLA, CPPA, CPKA, CPRA] (CONVERTIBLE) .
-- Remove the foam piece -1- and tape -2- from the bumper beam carrier -3-.
The molded foam part -1- is installed only for certain markets.
-- Remove the right and left bolts -1- on the lock carrier retaining bracket -2-.
-- Only remove the bolts -1- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal member.
-- Instead of the bolts, install the :T10093 into the holes in the left and right longitudinal member.
Have a second technician hold the hood and support rod.
-- Remove the remaining bolts -3- for the lock carrier -2- on the left and right longitudinal members.
-- Pull the lock carrier with attachments -1- forward onto the :T10093 -arrow-. Be careful of the wires on the lock carrier. Disconnect the connectors if necessary.
-- Install the :T10467 in the left and right threaded holes on the longitudinal member.
-- Secure the lock carrier with attachments -1- on the :T10467 with the original bolts -2-.
Service Position, Resetting
Install in reverse order of removal.
-- Align the lock carrier and its attachments on the longitudinal members and between the fenders. Refer to Body Gap Dimensions; Body Front .
Make sure that the charge air cooler pressure hoses are reinstalled correctly.
The hoses and lines must not be pinched.
