Steering Column: Overview
NOTE:
Always replace self-locking nuts.
Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
Always replace the bolts and nuts, which are tightened with an additional tightening angle.
- Instrument Panel Central Tube
- Shear Bolt
- Loosening and tightening. Refer to Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Right Retainer
- For knee airbag
- Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-
- For vehicles with "Keyless Access" keyless locking and starting system
- Removing and installing. Refer to Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module -J764-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Replace after removal
- Follow the tightening sequence. Refer to Installing Tighten the bolts -1, 2, 3 and 4- one after the other to the tightening specification.
- Left Retainer
- For knee airbag
- Bolt
- 20 Nm
- Replace after removal
- Bolt
- 20 Nm + 90°
- Replace after removal
- Steering Column
- Removing and installing. Refer to STEERING COLUMN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- The steering column must be engaged on the instrument panel central tube bracket when installing (assembly aid).
- There are different versions.
