Expansion Valve, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install In Reverse Order Of Removal And Note The Following: 

-- Coat the new seals with refrigerant oil before installing.

-- Replace the seals -1 and 4- on the connecting tubes -2 and 3- to the evaporator.

-- Press in the refrigerant pipe -2- by hand on the expansion valve.

-- Install the bolt -1- by hand and the tighten to the specified tightening specification.

NOTE:

The expansion valve is available in different versions (same housing but different control characteristic).

Check the refrigerant pipes leading to the evaporator for contamination and damage.

If the heat shield insulation -2- is missing or not installed correctly, it can cause reduced output of the A/C system (change of the set control characteristic due to radiant heat).

Vehicles With Refrigerant R134a 

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING WITH A/C SERVICE STATION and/or REFRIGERANT, FILLING IN A/C SERVICE STATION .

-- Put the A/C system into operation after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING .

Vehicles With Refrigerant R1234yf 

-- Fill the refrigerant circuit. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT, CHARGING and/or REFRIGERANT, FILLING IN RESERVOIR .

-- Put the A/C system into operation after filling. Refer to A/C SYSTEM, OPERATING AFTER CHARGING .
