Transmission Oil Level, Checking And Filling: Checking
-- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and identify the vehicle using Guided Functions .
-- Select DSG transmission .
-- Select Check Fluid Level .
Allow the transmission to cool down if the oil temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).
The engine is idling and the selector lever is in the "P" position.
-- Remove the drain plug.
Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two plugs were installed.
It is important to not switch the plugs. Remove the plug -A- near the pendulum support only.
Transmissions installed after September 20, 2004, have only one plug -A-.
-- Always replace the seal on the drain plug -arrow-.
Even if the transmission fluid level is too low, at first a small amount of transmission fluid will flow out of the overflow tube, because it fills during operation.
-- Allow the excess oil to drain.
-- Install the drain plug with a new seal as soon as all the oil has drained out (it starts to drip).
-- If no oil comes out, then fill it.
