Selector Shaft Seal, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

-- Remove the parking lock lever from the gearshift shaft -1-. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR MECHANISM .

-- If necessary pry up the parking lock lever with the Puller - Injectors: T40017  .

-- Carefully pry out seal -2- using a screwdriver.

Do not damage the sealing surfaces on the gearshift shaft and in the housing.

-- Lightly oil new seal on outer circumference.

-- Fill the area between the sealing lip and dust lip -arrow- halfway with Sealing Grease.

Push the new seal in flush with the transmission housing flange

-- Do not tilt the seal.

The parking lock lever fits on the splines in one position only.

-- Pay attention when inserting the parking lock lever that the gat -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B-, (shown here with the Three-Phrase Current Drive -VX54- removed.

-- Tighten the parking lock lever nut to the tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - SELECTOR MECHANISM .

-- Check and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
