Transmission, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With V8 Engine
Short description:
Automatic transmission -0C8- is removed together with the engine, front final drive and transfer case. This procedure is described in the engine component group.
It is advisable for all Touareg engine versions, including the vehicle on which you are working, to remove the >>lower connecting bolts<< for the engine/transmission prior to removal of the gear set. If possible, install the converter fastener early. This applies to both removal and the installation of the transmission on the engine.
There are two ways to disconnect the engine and transmission from one another on the Scissor Lift Table: VAS6131 :
First option
Automatic transmission -0C8- and transfer case -1- remain attached to each other. They can be disconnected together from the engine to remove and install the converter, for example.
Front driveshaft -2- is removed.
Second option
The transfer case is first removed from the table and then the automatic transmission. Automatic transmission installations can then be performed. For this purpose, the front driveshaft is removed, and transfer case -1- is disconnected and removed from the table. Then disconnect the automatic transmission from the engine and remove it from the table if necessary.
