Overview - Selector Mechanism

Note radio code on vehicles with coded radio.

Disconnect the ground cable from the battery when working on the gearshift mechanism inside the engine compartment. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

Connect the battery and follow the procedures to be performed after connecting a battery. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .

To work on gearshift mechanism in the engine compartment, remove entire air filter housing if it is located over the gearshift mechanism. Refer to AIR FILTER (CNLA & CRJA) , or AIR FILTER (CZCA, CZDA & CZTA) , or AIR FILTER (CBPA & CKJA) , or AIR FILTER (CPLA, CPPA, CPKA & CPRA) .

The shift mechanism must be removed in order to replace the operating cables. Refer to SELECTOR MECHANISM, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Do not bend the operating cables.
