RNS 510

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

NOTE:

Replacement part number for RNS (Radio Navigation System) is located on a sticker on the radio housing.

Deactivate the anti-theft coding when replacing the radio. Refer to ELECTRONIC ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, DEACTIVATING .

Removing 

CAUTION:
  • Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
  • Remove the key.

-- If there is a CD still in the player, remove it. Refer to the Owner's Manual.

Only Jetta From MY 2011 

-- Remove the cover -2- from the instrument panel -1- using a 3409.

All Except Jetta From MY 2011 

-- Remove the upper cover and vents from the center of the instrument panel. The screws under the center console should now be accessible. Refer to Removal and Installation .

All Vehicles 

-- Remove screws -arrows-.

-- Remove the center console cover -arrows- using 3409.

-- Remove the screws -arrows- from the radio/navigation display unit control module.

-- Pull the radio/navigation display unit control module out of the installation slot just far enough until the connectors on the back are accessible.

-- Squeeze the connector lock in direction of the -arrows-.

-- Move the locking bracket in the direction of the -arrow- and remove the connector.

-- Unlock the antenna connections -arrows- and disconnect the connectors.

Installing 

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

NOTE:

Never push on the display or the buttons on the radio/navigation display unit control module when installing it. It will be damaged.

-- Install the screws -arrows- in the radio/navigation display unit control module.

-- Deactivate the anti-theft coding. Refer to ELECTRONIC ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, DEACTIVATING .

-- Check the radio/navigation display unit control module coding. Code it again if necessary. Refer to RNS 510 COMPONENTS, ADAPTING .

Torque specifications: 1.5 Nm
