Short Description
The selector lever cable must be disconnected from the transmission in order to check it for ease of movement. Do not let the removed end touch anything.
Then, the selector lever is moved and installed again on the transmission.
After that, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
Do not lubricate the cable connections.
Checking
-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.
-- Remove the cable from the lever on the transmission.
-- Move the selector lever from "P" to "S" and back to "P" several times.
- The selector lever must move easily.
-- Install the cable with new lock washers and a loosened adjustment bolt.
-- Adjust the cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, ADJUSTING .
