Glow Plug, Removing And Installing: Removing

Glow Plug Versions

  1. Glow plug with Cylinder Internal Pressure Sensor - Only for Cylinder 3 if Equipped
  2. Glow Plug Without Combustion Chamber Pressure Sensor

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

CAUTION:

There is a risk of damaging the support sleeve.

  • Only push together the :3314  far enough to remove the glow plug connector collar of the support sleeve grips without damaging it.

-- Open the wiring harness clips and remove the connectors from the glow plugs as follows.

-- Position the :3314  with the groove -arrow A- on the collar of the protective sleeve -arrow B-, as shown.

-- Remove the glow plug connector carefully from the glow plugs.

-- Clean the glow plug shaft in the cylinder head (no dirt may fall into the cylinder).

NOTE:

Extract large contaminants with a vacuum cleaner.

Spray a brake cleaner or a suitable cleaner into the glow plug shaft, let it work and then use compressed air to remove it.

Then clean the glow plug shaft with a cloth dampened with oil.

WARNING:

Risk of eye injury.

  • Wear protective eyewear!

-- Loosen the glow plugs using the :3220  and remove by hand.

NOTE:

:VAS6454  for glow plugs with combustion chamber pressure sensor (3-cylinder) if necessary.
