Transmission Oil Level, Checking And Filling: Checking

-- Connect the vehicle diagnostic tester and identify the vehicle using Guided Functions  .

-- Select DSG transmission  .

-- Select Check Fluid Level  .

NOTE:

Allow the transmission to cool down if the oil temperature is higher than 45 °C (113 °F).

The engine is idling and the selector lever is in the "P" position.

-- Remove the drain plug.

Up to transmission production date "September 20, 2004", transmissions with two plugs were installed.

It is important to not switch the plugs. Remove the plug -A- near the pendulum support only.

Transmissions installed after September 20, 2004, have only one plug -A-.

-- Always replace the seal on the drain plug -arrow-.

NOTE:

Even if the transmission fluid level is too low, at first a small amount of transmission fluid will flow out of the overflow tube, because it fills during operation.

-- Allow the excess oil to drain.

-- Install the drain plug with a new seal as soon as all the oil has drained out (it starts to drip).

-- If no oil comes out, then fill it.
