Shift And Selector Cables: Notes

NOTE: Lubricate the bearing areas and the sliding surfaces. Use the correct grease.

  1. Selector Shaft with Selector Cover
    • (Shift unit)
  2. Clip
    • For the relay lever -17-.
  3. Transmission Shift Lever
    • Install so that the master spline aligns with the shift rod. Refer to Fig 2.
    • To install, lubricate first, refer to Fig 3.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
  4. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the shift cable -8- to the transmission shift lever -3-.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable on the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different. Refer to Figure.
  5. Lock Washer
    • Always replace after removing.
  6. Nut
    • 23 Nm
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Self-locking
  7. Lock Washer
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them.

  10. Shift Housing
  11. Lock Washers
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Be careful not to damage the cables when removing them.
  12. Cable Bracket
    • Made of plastic.
  13. Bolt
    • 20 Nm
    • For securing the cable bracket to the transmission.
    • Quantity: 2
  14. Grommet
    • For the cable bracket to the transmission.
  15. Spacer
  16. Nut
    • 20 Nm
    • For securing the cable bracket to the transmission.
  17. Relay Lever
    • Made of plastic.
    • Installed position, refer to Fig 4.
    • Remove and install together with the cable retainer -item  19
    • To install, lubricate, refer to Figure.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • On the shift cover, disconnecting and reconnecting, refer to Figure.

  19. Cable Retainer
    • For attaching the selector cable -9- to the relay lever -17-.
    • Adjust the shift mechanism after installing. Refer to SHIFT MECHANISM, ADJUSTING .
    • Do not interchange, the cable locking mechanisms for the selector cable to the relay lever and for the shift cable to the transmission shift lever are different.
    • Removing from the selector cable. Refer to Fig 5.
    • Allocation, refer to Figure.
    • Removing from the relay lever -17-, refer to Figure.
    • Installing onto the relay lever -17-, refer to Figure.
  20. Locking Pin

-- When installing the transmission shift lever, make sure the tooth gap -arrow A- is placed over the missing selector shaft teeth -arrow B-.

  1. Transmission shift lever with balance weight
  2. Clip
  3. The relay lever fits into the guide rail on the transmission shift lever via the sliding shoe -arrow-.

-- Pull the locking mechanism all the way forward -arrow 1- and lock it in the -direction of arrow 2-.

-- Remove the cable -B- from the cable retainer -A-.
