-- Remove the A-pillar trim. Refer to PILLAR TRIM .

-- Remove the interior rearview mirror. Refer to INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR .

-- The headliner can now be lowered far enough so that windshield can be cut out without damaging headliner.

-- Remove the plenum chamber cover. Refer to REMOVING .

-- Depending on the equipment, disconnect the electrical lines -3 and 7-.

NOTE:

In the case of vehicles with a rain sensor, the following information must be observed. Refer to WINDSHIELD WASHER SYSTEM .

-- Install the Cover for Audi A4 Dash Panel:VAG1474/8 -1- between the windshield and the instrument panel.

-- Pull the cutting wire -1- with the Flush Bonded Window Kit - Awl:VAG1474/2 through the adhesive inside the passenger compartment.

-- Secure the cutting wire end from being pulled out using the Bonded Window Tool Kit - Pull Handle:VAG1351/1 -3-.

-- Insert cutting cord -2- into window flange using small tube -1-.

-- Lay the cutting cord around windshield.

-- Make sure that cutting thread is inserted under windshield at corners.

-- Secure the second cord end to Window Reel Device:VAG1654 A .

-- Set Window Reel Device:VAG1654A into "Position I".

-- Move Window Reel Device:VAG1654A according to position required and cut windshield free.

-- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic wedge in order to have clearance from window flange and instrument cluster.
