Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

The selector lever cable must be adjusted if:

Adjusting 

-- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to one of the following:

Passat, refer to "One Piece Intake Manifold" or "Two Piece Intake Manifold" in Description and Operation .

Passat CC and CC, refer to Description and Operation .

Tiguan, refer to Removal and Installation .

-- Loosen the bolt -2- on the selector lever cable -1-.

-- Lightly tap the handle button forward and backward and make sure to keep the handle in the "P" position.

This locates the cable core in its optimal position.

-- Move the selector shaft lever -3- into the "P" position (push the lever to the rear).

NOTE:

Make sure the transmission is in the "P" position (parking lock is engaged) if raising the vehicle. It must not be possible to turn the front wheels.

-- Tighten the bolt -2- to 15 Nm.

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to one of the following:

Passat, refer to "One Piece Intake Manifold" or "Two Piece Intake Manifold" in Description and Operation .

Passat CC and CC, refer to Description and Operation .

Tiguan, refer to Removal and Installation .
